The European Commission invites scientists to join its non-food Scientific Committees. The Scientific Committees established under Commission Decision C(2015)5383 provide the Commission with high quality and independent risk assessment and scientific advice in the areas of public health, consumer safety and environmental risks. Each Committee consists of a maximum of 19 members.

The deadline for applications is 2 November 2015.

Scientists may apply for membership in one or more of the following committees:

  • Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS)
  • Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER)

Successful applicants are expected to be well-established scientists with more than 10 years of professional experience and multi-disciplinary accomplishments. Members are appointed to the Scientific Committees for a term of five years. More information on the application and selection procedure, as well as the workload and indemnities, can be found on the European Commission website.
