Irene Bouwma has been active in the field of European nature conservation (including protected areas) for the last 20 years. She has undertaken several joint projects with Eurosite and has given talks at Eurosite conferences. Furthermore, Ms Bouwma is an active member of the Economics and Ecosystems Working Group. Ms Bouwma's areas of expertise include policy for protected areas - in particular the implementation of Natura 2000 in various countries - and ecosystem services - in general and for protected areas.
