Eurosite attendance at the Migratory Birds for People Annual Meeting

Biodiversum

The beautiful Biodiversum visitor centre of the Natura 2000 site Haff Réimech hosted the Annual Meeting of the Migratory Birds for People network.

Since 2009 Staatsbosbeheer, Wetlands International, Wetland Link International and some key wetland centres have been working on MBP, a network of visitor centres along the East Atlantic flyway. The network sees wetland CEPA (communication, education, participation and awareness-raising) and wetland education centres as vital tools in changing perceptions of the public, visitors and decision-makers about wetlands and birds, and leading to their improved protection.

The Annual Meeting was focused around the exchange of knowledge and experience concerning multilingual communication, efficient social media usage, on-site learning from the wetland centre, and how to strengthen links between core network members. On the evening of 9 October, the Friends of Eurosite agreement between Migratory Birds for People and Eurosite was officially renewed for two years. Both Migratory Birds for People and Eurosite feel that the previous agreement was mutually beneficial and we look forward to working together the coming years.
