Eurosite member joins European Rewilding Network
Eurosite member Natuurpunt from Belgium, has joined the European Rewilding Network (ERN) – a network that aims to bring initiatives closer together to empower them in their rewilding efforts.
Since 2012, Natuurpunt has been working to connect nature reserves along the Grote Nete in an effort to create a 2500-hectare reserve; the Grote Netewoud. By joining the ERN, Natuurpunt aims to gain more knowledge on creating a wilderniss area on a compact scale, as well as increasing the number of visitors and boosting the public support. In realising the Grote Netewoud, the largest area of floodplain forest throughout northern Belgium will be created.
