Friendship update: Migratory Birds for People & Eurosite
The Migratory Birds for People (MBP) network of wetland centres along the East Atlantic Flyway has a formal partnership with Eurosite, delivering support to those working on education and engagement activities at wetland sites. Part of this has taken the form of work between Chris Rostron (Chair of MBP) and Jelke Brandehof (Communications and Membership Officer, Eurosite) to develop a written guidance on effective communication through social media. This will give an overview of how to use social media, the different benefits of each, and some basic guidance on how they technically can be used. It will be aimed at practitioners working at wetland sites and we hope will improve how we use social media in all its formats.
We will launch this guide as part of the annual MBP meeting, which unfortunately clashes with Eurosite’s annual meeting, on the 25th and 26th of September. We will be meeting at the Grand Lieu lake near Nantes, France, and will hold our usual mix of updates and sharing of best practice, site visit and learning from our hosts, and planning for the coming year. We hope to have representatives from across the East Atlantic Flyway, including West Africa. If you are interested, please contact the Chair of MBP Chris Rostron.
