Marche de gardes – coastal rangers celebrated Conservatoire du littoral’s 40th anniversary
Eurosite member the Conservatoire du littoral celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. For this occasion, the coastal rangers, almost 900 today, decided to organise a walk through the sites of the Conservatoire. The walks took place over the course of the year.
Nearly 20 rangers of the Atlantic-centre delegation (Charente-Maritime, Vendée and Loire-Atlantique) and 80 rangers of Brittany (Ille-et-Vilaine, Côtes d’Armor, Finistère and Morbihan) have been contributing to this initiative. By foot, by boat, by canoe, all means have been used to “pass the baton” via a backpack and a field notebook. The goal was to meet at the boundary of the two territories by the end of October.
The mission of these rangers, employed by local authorities or NGOs, is to protect and ensure the maintenance of the sites of the Conservatoire. The handover from one site to another symbolizes, beyond their daily investment, their solidarity and shared concern for the preservation of the coasts.
