Workshop 1: Towards a market system for nature credits?
This workshop will address the possibilities of establishing a market system for (protected) nature area’s in Europe, considering the existing context, the motivations and possible objectives and organisational structure involved. Deriving from existing examples as the Woodland Carbon Code and the Peatland Code in the UK and the MoorFutures in Germany, the criteria involved in such a system are presented and the challenges of balancing between complexity and simplicity will be discussed, as well as the questions for (further) investigation. The organizers hope to determine if there is enough support for putting forward an EU-project on this topic.
Workshop 2: Ecosystem services – how to trace and involve the relevant stakeholders
Nature areas deliver many goods and services. These ecosystem services are important for the life and economic activities in our societies. This holds for many people, organisations and enterprises inside and outside the areas involved. This workshop will explore the questions of how to trace relevant stakeholders, and how to increase their involvement in and commitment towards ecosystem services.
Workshop 3: Tools and assessments of ecosystem services
In this interactive workshop, experiences on the use of models and tools for the assessment of ecosystem services will be shared. An important aim of this workshop is to discuss and review the considerations you need to make before choosing a model or tool for your analysis. After a short introduction in which one of the Eurosite Members will share their experiences in this field, you will be guided through the maze of models and tools and assessments currently available for ecosystem services. At the end of the workshop, several available models and assessments that might suit the purposes of site managers will be presented.
