  • Webinar: Visitors, a blessing or a burden?

    string-4774559_1920

As an outcome of the Eurosite Twinning ‘Conservation and recreation in a post-lockdown society’, the thematic Twinning partners are happy to invite you to a webinar focusing on visitor management on 16 November 2021 from 14:30 – 16:00 CET.

Natural areas are beautiful and have precious qualities that are greatly appreciated, resulting in nature reserves attracting visitors. Some visitors are interested in natural and landscape values, whereas others come for a hike, walk the dog, cycle and/or enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. On peak visitor days and/or during the Covid-19 lockdowns, visitors came in very large numbers. So large that it causes pressure on and even damage to natural sites., which raises the question if visitors are a blessing or a burden. How can visitors be received and guided through nature reserves?

This webinar is a first orientation on the topic of visitor management. Three European organisations will explain their daily practice of receiving visitors, challenges they face that come with visitor management as well as the practical solution they apply.  The webinar will also provide room for an important announcement: the potential creation of a new Eurosite working group on visitor management. If realised, this group will explore various topics regarding visitor management in more depth to provide practitioners will practical tools and tips in working with visitors in natural sites.

A recording of the webinar is available here.  To see the individual presentations, please find them under the tab ‘presentations’ below.
