Working with nature for Disaster Risk reduction and Climate Change Adaptation
On the occasion of the World Wetlands Day, this year dedicated to “Wetlands for Disaster Risk Reduction”, it is important to recall that environmental degradation contributes to disaster risks and that healthy ecosystems reduce exposure to hazards and increase resilience. Nature-based solutions provide sustainable, cost-effective, multi-purpose and flexible alternatives for adaptation to Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. This presentation will highlight the global policy frameworks promoting nature-based solutions and showcase projects supported by the European Commission and Wetlands International in Least Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.
