Best practice in restoration

SER2016

The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Europe has held its bi-annual conference in Freising, Germany at the end of August. The focus of the conference was “Best Practice in Restoration Ecology”. The conference brought together more than 300 delegates from over 40 countries.

A Eurosite representative co-presented a workshop that discussed the preliminary results of the EC contract on ‘Promotion of restoration in the context of EU 2020 biodiversity strategy‘. Eurosite’s President Stefan Versweyveld gave a keynote about integrated planning for port development, flood control and nature restoration in the Scheldt estuary, Belgium.

For the quick overview of the restoration issues discussed at the conference it is best to consult the Conference Book of Abstracts.

One of the main aims of SER Europe is to disseminate knowledge on ecological restoration in Europe to practitioners, policy people, stakeholders and scientists. Therefore SER Europe provides a searchable online Knowledge Base on Ecological Restoration – a web-based tool for the restoration community to share knowledge, best practice experience, interesting case studies and so on. All content of the SER Europe Knowledge Base is available for both web search engines, providing maximal on-line visibility of the shared information, as well as its own search menu to consult solely the SER Europe Knowledge Base. Everybody is welcome to use the database to search the information or to share their own experience and results in ecological restoration.
